Medical Marijuana in New Jersey
On January 18, 2010, New Jersey’s Governor signed into law the New Jersey Compassionate Use Medical Marijuana Act. The law was supposed to take effect in July, 2010, but lawmakers amended the legislation in June because Governor Chris Christie wanted to delay enactment of the legislation until October 1, 2010. This law required the State of New Jersey to formulate rules and regulations governing distribution of medical marijuana to medical marijuana patients authorized by the state.
